Greetings from The Downtown Church! This is a bi-weekly email with information about events, updates, and other fun things from the leadership of the church.
 

The final hours of Advent are winding down and the anticipation of Christmas Eve hangs heavy in the air. I know it might not feel like it outside, but Christmas is near. Just a day away!

We are busy making final preparation for our Christmas Eve Worship tomorrow night at 6:30pm. We've got the bulletins printed, the candles prepped, and the church is ready to welcome our guests. The last few days before Christmas always feel so rushed and hurried, between the shopping, cooking, wrapping, and visiting. I hope you find a moment or two of solitude and reflection. I pray you are rested to experience the joy of Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

On behalf of my family and the staff, thank you for being such a kind, caring, generous, and thoughtful congregation. This Advent season has been a blessing and I hope you have experienced that as well. Have a wonderful holiday season!

Our annual Christmas Eve Worship service is TOMORROW NIGHT at 6:30pm and will feature all your favorite things: classic Christmas carols, a no-rehearsal children's pageant (it's as crazy as that sounds), prayers, a message, communion, and Silent Night by candlelight. Join us as we celebrate!
In January, we will start a new series called God on Broadway. Each week, we'll explore what we can learn about our faith and what it means to be a Christian through the songs and stories of Broadway Musicals. The last Sunday of the series, February 1, we will gather at Springfield Little Theatre for our annual worship experience on the big stage. Join us for this fun look at our faith with the help of some fun show tunes.
Immediately after worship on January 11th, we'll have a Church Town Hall. Everyone is invited as Pastor Brian and members of the board will talk about our strategic plan for 2026, the areas we feel called to lean into, and the places we may need to spend some money. There will also be a short question-and-answer session. We are exited about all the opportunities and ideas for the coming year!
