Greetings from The Downtown Church! This is a bi-weekly email with information about events, updates, and other fun things from the leadership of the church.

We're doing something this Sunday that we've never done before. In fact, there was a time years ago we never thought we would be able to do it. But we're ready now.

WE ARE HAVING A YOUTH SUNDAY!

That's right. This Sunday, we are going to be turning a lot of the roles and responsibilities over to the youth. Greeters, ushers, musicians, technology. Our Youth Director, Cody Williams, will preach. How fun is this going to be, you ask? A ton. How smooth will it be? Probably just as smooth as a normal Sunday around here, if we're being honest. Because that's how we roll. Our goal isn't perfection, it's authenticity.

We are a church that's authentic in who we are and how we worship. And all ages are part of that authenticity. And now we have enough youth who want to be involved and take ownership, so that's what we are doing. I'm excited. I hope you're excited too. I hope you will come to church Sunday beaming with pride for the wonderful humans who bring so much joy to us around here.

We are a family. And families show up to support each other. Let's do just that for our youth.

See you Sunday,
Brian

Our spring season of Dinners Together is coming up and we need hosts! If you are new to Dinners Together, here's how it works. There are a group of hosts who hold dinners at their homes three times between March and Memorial Day. They set the date and time for the first gathering and then people from the church sign up. The host usually sets a main course menu and then invites everyone else to bring a dish. That's it! There is no agenda or Bible study. You don't have to volunteer to pray or anything! It's just a chance to enjoy the company and conversation of those you see on Sundays, but don't really get to know. If you would like to host, sign up here!
There will be a new Sunday morning study starting on February 15th. John Melton is going to lead a four-week study on the Old Testament book of Ruth. He's a former history teacher, so John is going to explain and illuminate the history of this beautiful book and the story it holds about faith and family. All are welcome to join in the fun, starting Sunday, February 15, at 9:15am. You can RSVP right here.
The Downtown Youth will have their biggest annual fundraiser on Sunday, February 22, from 5-7pm. This is always a lot of fun, but you may be wondering what is Chillingo? It's a chili contest + bingo competition. Chillingo! Tickets are $10/person or $30/family. Make plans to get your tickets and start perfecting your chili recipe now. The competition is fierce! You can buy your tickets (and some delicious baked goods) on Sundays in the gathering area.
