Greetings from The Downtown Church! This is a bi-weekly email with information about events, updates, and other fun things from the leadership of the church.

Hello my fellow weather-watchers! It would seem, if we can trust forecasts, that winter weather will make it's full blown appearance this weekend. The weather is going to be brutally cold and there could be anywhere from a few inches to a foot of snow on the ground.

With that in mind, we are making backup plans for a completely online worship option, should the need arise. Please keep your eyes and ears (and inbox) open for communication, as we will broadcast any news regarding Sunday worship through emails, texts, phone calls, and social media.

Having said all of that, with cold weather and snow comes the opportunity to show Radical Hospitality to our neighbors. Who is around you that needs to be checked on? Who will need help with snow or ice removal? How can you show up where no one expects it? We love because he first loved us.

Stay safe,
Brian

Our spring season of Dinners Together is coming up and we need hosts! If you are new to Dinners Together, here's how it works. There are a group of hosts who hold dinners at their homes three times between March and Memorial Day. They set the date and time for the first gathering and then people from the church sign up. The host usually sets a main course menu and then invites everyone else to bring a dish. That's it! There is no agenda or Bible study. You don't have to volunteer to pray or anything! It's just a chance to enjoy the company and conversation of those you see on Sundays, but don't really get to know. If you would like to host, sign up here!
We are holding a Next Steps Class on Sunday, February 8. The class will meet right after worship from about 11:45am-1:30pm. This is a great place to get your questions answered and learn more about United Methodists. We'll also go over the history of The Downtown Church, as well as our vision, values, goals for the future. Lunch and childcare provided. RSVP right here.
The Downtown Youth will have their biggest annual fundraiser on Sunday, February 22, from 5-7pm. This is always a lot of fun, but you may be wondering what is Chillingo? It's a chili contest + bingo competition. Chillingo! Tickets are $10/person or $30/family. Make plans to get your tickets and start perfecting your chili recipe now. The competition is fierce!
