Greetings from The Downtown Church! This is a bi-weekly email with information about events, updates, and other fun things from the leadership of the church.

Happy New Year, my friends! I'm excited to turn the page on the calendar and jump into 2026 with both feet. We have a lot of exciting plans and events already on the books, along with some thought provoking sermon series to help grow and challenge your faith.

Thank you for such a wonderful and warm Advent and Christmas season. It was a joy to remember and celebrate the birth of child who illuminated a path to eternal life—a Godly life. And that's our challenge now: to walk into the future following the light and help others find the path.

We live in tumultuous times. I remain firmly planted in the idea that the way of Jesus provides hope, joy, peace, and love in the midst of chaos and pain. I invite you to seek after God this year and keep lighting candles in the darkness—bringing the light of God's love to yourself and others. As we come to the day of remembering his legacy, let's hold all the more tightly to Martin Luther King Jr.'s words, "Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that."

See you Sunday,
Brian

After worship this Sunday, we'll have a Church Town Hall. Everyone is invited as Pastor Brian and members of the board will talk about our strategic plan for 2026, the areas we feel called to lean into, and the places where we need to spend some money. There will also be a short question-and-answer session. We are exited about all the opportunities and ideas for the coming year!
We are hosting a VERY informal breakfast mixer on Sunday, January 18, from 9-10am. The whole idea behind this fun event is just to give you a chance to meet and mingle with those smiling faces you see in the sanctuary. Maybe you'll find a forever friend. Maybe you'll meet a local celebrity. Maybe you'll discover that old church basements all have the same feel and smell to them. Who knows!? But you won't find out unless you show up! Let us know you'll be there at this link.
There is a new Sunday morning group starting this week. Paul & Jennifer Baker will lead an Alpha class at the Good Dads office (the old parsonage) on Sundays at 9am. This is a great group for anyone wanting to explore the Christian faith with questions, curiosity, and discussion. RSVP here and let us know if you'd like to be part of this group.
