I just got back from a great family vacation to The Badlands and Black Hills in South Dakota. It was great to unplug and get away with my wife and kids to see some of our country's natural beauty.

We got back on Monday afternoon, enjoyed two days at home, and now we're back on the road in St. Louis this time. One day for family fun, but the rest of the time I'll be attending the Missouri Annual Conference of the UMC.

This will be three days of pastors and clergy learning together, worshipping together, and making decisions together. I love that we are a connectional denomination, tied together in ways that help us learn, grow, and support each other. It's often a wonderful celebration of our shared ministry, the good parts and the hard parts. Sometimes it's boring, if I'm honest. But it's necessary work as we move forward as a denomination to put Jesus' words into action; to seek God earnestly, and to love our neighbors as ourselves.

It's not always easy. But when we come together, it's easier to remember why it's important, necessary, and sacred work. I'm excited to continue on here at The Downtown Church as I end my first year as your lead pastor. And I look forward to the ways we can get even better in my second year.

Thanks for having me as your pastor,
Brian
We are planning on having a BIG TIME at our annual Family Fun Night! We will gather at Rutledge-Wilson Farm Park on Tuesday, June 17th, from 5:30-7:30pm for some food, hayrides, inflatables, and games. Bring your family and let's have some fun. We just need to know how many people to feed, so RSVP online right here!
It's not too late to join either of our Gospel of John bible studies! Brent Bossi's group meets on Sunday evenings at 5:30pm and Heather Blair's group is on Wednesday mornings at 10am. You could even go to both because they are focusing on different material. Go on...get a little crazy!

Have you ever wondered about placing your membership at The Downtown Church? Or maybe you've had questions about our history, vision, or United Methodism. Come to our Next Steps Class on Sunday, June 22, from 11:45am-1:15pm and Pastor Brian can answer all your questions. You can register on Sunday in the bulletin, online right here, or you can just shoot us an email back. Childcare and lunch are provided!
