Greetings from The Downtown Church! This is a bi-weekly email with information about events, updates, and other fun things from the leadership of the church.

Warmer weather has returned! And that means two things: I have to mow my lawn again and it's First Friday Art Walk season at The Downtown Church. These fun, community events have been part of our DNA since the beginning of my tenure here, way back in 2015. We started by just making popcorn, blowing up some balloons, and having Derrick sing on the front steps. It was so much fun, we decided to do it again. And that's just what we've done for years in the warm weather months.

This is one of the main ways we tell our neighborhood and community that this church wants to bring a little joy to people's days. We are alive on the corner of Walnut & Jefferson and even though our building can seem imposing, the people are warm and friendly. We even have popcorn and lemonade to prove it!

So if you've never been before, come on down tomorrow night from 6-8pm. Bring your friends, your kids, your family, or your dog. Come enjoy the sights and sounds of Downtown Springfield and be part of creating the welcoming environment that our church has become known for over the years.

See you tomorrow and Sunday,
Brian
We are SO excited that First Friday season is back at The Downtown Church TOMORROW NIGHT! We will be hosting the smooth jazz stylings of Rev. Ben Bergmark, a UMC pastor at Iberia. He is also a musician on base at Ft. Leonard Wood and is studying to become an Army Chaplain. He will have a vocalist with him and even show off some of your favorite hymns in a new jazzy way. We will also have popcorn, lemonade, and some fun activities for the kids. Come on downtown!
The Seekers Class, led by Jim Millsap, will begin a new study over The Sermon on the Mount on May 4. The group meets in the main floor classroom (by the coffee area) every Sunday at 9:15am. Anyone is welcome and can come and go as they are available. They love to meet new people and dive into scripture together.

Brent Bossi will begin a new study on the Gospel of John. It will be Sunday nights at 5:30pm beginning on May 18. This book of the Bible is also known as the Book of Signs because of Jesus' miracles in the first half of the book. It stands out from the accounts in Matthew, Mark, and Luke because of it's structure, tone, themes, and it's famed prologue. Come explore how this Gospel account has so much to offer us today.
