Greetings from The Downtown Church! This is a bi-weekly email with information about events, updates, and other fun things from the leadership of the church.

Tomorrow morning, The Downtown Church's board members will gather to drink coffee, discuss new plans, and dream about our future. For four hours, ideas will be flying around the room. Post-it notes will be scribbled on and stuck to walls. We'll smile. We'll laugh. We'll wonder. But most of all, we will be listening.

And not just to each other. We'll be listening for that still small voice of God. That's really what we're seeking. Where are the places God is guiding us? Who are the people God calls to meet? How are we to focus our efforts in 2026 and beyond? These are all big questions, but we serve a big God who's never-ending love still leads us today.

Some meetings can be boring. Some could've been accomplished with just an email. But there's something special about gathering a group of people who have rallied around our vision—God's vision—with one goal: to dream big dreams. I'm excited! I hope you will pray, listen, and dream with us about what 2026 looks like in the coming months, too.

Still waiting on the fall weather,
Brian
We've heard from some of you, but we want more! Make plans to eat all the pizza your stomach can handle! The Downtown Church will have our very own Pizza Night at Millsap Farm on October 11 from 5-7:30pm. There is a lot of space for kids to roam and play, some live music, and the best company you can find anywhere. Come on out for some fall fun and be sure to RSVP. We need to know how much pizza to make. Bring your own drinks and a lawn chair!
On Saturday, November 1, we will host a Family Bonfire at Rutledge-Wilson Farm Park. Similar to our Family Fun Night in the summer, this Family Bonfire is for families with kids ages 5-11. There will be hot dogs, s'mores, some campfire songs, and maybe even some storytellers. Let us know if you can make it and RSVP right here. We know it's Halloween the night before, but you also get an extra hour of sleep when you go to bed on November 1, so let's get crazy!
Paul and Jennifer Baker are excited to start a new class based on the book Steps by John Ortberg. This book uses many of the principles and steps in recovery communities and applies them to our spiritual lives. This class begins on Sunday, October 12, at 9am. It will meet at our old parsonage, the offices of Good Dads—that big pink house out in front of the church. There will be some light snacks and a lot of discussion. Anyone is welcome to join!
