Greetings from The Downtown Church! This is a bi-weekly email with information about events, updates, and other fun things from the leadership of the church.

Leverage. It’s a word that can seem too business-y to apply to a church. But it simply means using something to its maximum advantage. When applied to the vision we have for The Downtown Church that word can become part of an important question: How do we leverage what has been entrusted to us to its maximum advantage to be a place where Christ and the Community intersect? We are stewards of property, we are blessed with people who desire to serve the Lord, and we have financial resources entrusted to us. How do we leverage all of these gifts to fulfill our vision and grow the kingdom of God?

It is a question that I keep asking as the pastor of this wonderful congregation. And I would invite you to ask it and help us answer it too. Six Drury Architecture students are working to help us creatively think about our property on this corner of Walnut and Jefferson. They need your input to understand more completely how the people who call The Downtown Church home think and dream about our future together. They have asked us to complete a survey, and the more of you who do, the greater the source of information they will have in their work—on both your behalf and for the community we long to reach.

Please take a moment to complete this survey. Thank you for taking the time to engage in the process!

See you Sunday,
Lori

We tried something new last year, and it was so much fun, we thought we should do this again! So we are. Make plans to have a lovely meal under the Autumn skies at Millsap Farm for our very own Pizza Night. It'll be on Saturday, October 8, from 5-7:30pm. There'll be all you can eat pizza, fun stuff for kids, and live music from Deja Crew. Just let us know if you can make it by RSVPing right here!

Fall is officially here! We're going to have a lot of fun at our October FFAW Party. We'll have the usual refreshments and the talented kids from Springfield Little Theatre's YES Troupe will be entertaining us. Bring your friends, family, and neighbors down for a good time and kick-off Art Walk on the corner of Walnut & Jefferson.

It is good to know that someone is praying for you; sometimes it's even better to have someone to pray with. Heather Blair and Erin Owens will be in the prayer room (at the top of the stairs) each Sunday morning at 9:15 to pray with anyone led to come. And this is the boldness we have in him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. (1 John 5:14)
