I spent some time with Ingrid Denney the other day. Ingrid is passionate about serving God’s people and is using that passion to lead our mission team. The Downtown Church designated our Easter 2022 offering to help meet the needs of MacGregor Elementary School. Let me share what’s been happening there with resources from The Downtown Church:
- We provided breakfast in May and lunch in August for 47 staff members.
- We bought requested supplies for the school nurse to use for students in immediate need (shoes, pants, socks, and underwear) along with snacks and Toothsaver boxes.
- We purchased and assembled two gift baskets to encourage attendance for the first quarter of school. McGregor staff chose a “Family Night” theme for the baskets, which will be awarded to two students with highest attendance. The baskets include pizza gift cards, soda, snacks, and games. TDC will provide additional incentives every quarter throughout the school year.
- We are stocking small items for McGregor’s Prize Closet to reward students for good performance and behavior.
In addition, we have SIX members that are trained and registered to participate in the Reading Buddy Program, which is scheduled to launch in October. Other plans to support our friends at McGregor are in the works! If you would like to be a part of this ministry, please let us know.
