Greetings from The Downtown Church! This is a bi-weekly email with information about events, updates, and other fun things from the leadership of the church.
 

It was a beautiful start to the morning! I got up early (not as early as some) and joined the Route 66 Revelers to watch the TODAY show in little ol' Downtown Springfield. It was a lot of fun and a lot of excitement for our community.

Unfortunately, the chilly weather is not good for musicians, so we canceled our First Friday Art Walk Party at the church tomorrow night, but don't miss out on all the other fun this weekend. This is a chance to celebrate an iconic part of Springfield's history—Route 66—and we are the kick-off to a year long celebration of its centennial.

There is a concert tonight, a sculpture dedication tomorrow, events planned throughout the weekend and even Artsfest on Historic Walnut Street. Check out the Birthplace of Route 66 Facebook Page to find some fun to fill your weekend. Just because we aren't having a party doesn't mean you shouldn't get out and have some fun!

Rev. Laura Murphy from the Missouri United Methodist Foundation will lead a 90-minute seminar called Putting Your House In Order this Sunday from 12-1:30pm after worship. She will help answer all your questions about estate planning, wills, final wishes, funerals, memories, financial documents, and much more! A light lunch is provided. RSVP right here!
It's our month to serve at Crosslines. We need 12 volunteers to help from 8:45am-12pm on Friday, May 22. Volunteers will help clients shop in the warehouse and get all of their grocery items and other supplies in the cart and out the door. You can sign up to help at this link or in the bulletin this Sunday. Thanks for helping serve the people of our community.
There is another Next Steps Class after worship on May 17. This is the place to learn about membership at The Downtown Church, our history, our vision, or any other questions you want answered.
