Greetings from The Downtown Church! This is a bi-weekly email with information about events, updates, and other fun things from the leadership of the church.
 

The summer is coming to a close. As sad as it is to turn our attention to the school year and wave goodbye to those long days at the pool, a little rhythm and routine can be a good thing. Yeah. Let's put a positive spin on this change for all you students and teachers.

But just because the fun of summer is ending, there's plenty of fun planned at The Downtown Church over the next month. Another season of Dinners Together is ready to roll. Sign up for one this Sunday! We have a First Friday Art Walk Party on Friday, September 4, from 6-8pm. Cider Days is coming back to Walnut St. on September 19 + 20. There will also be a few discussion groups about the book, Woven, which we are using as a sermon series resource. See? We can still do fun!

I, for one, am looking forward to the routine of the school year. Yes, my alarm will go off at 5:30am and I'll be a little groggy for a few weeks, but I'm excited for some crisp mornings. Most of all, I'm excited and blessed to be able to do it all with you.

Our new Children's Coordinator, Nicole Brookman, is looking forward to spending time with our volunteers and parents on August 30th. We'll provide a light lunch as we discuss a few updates, changes, and plans for the fall. If you volunteer with our kids, or have a child in the program, please stay after worship on August 30th. We need your help to make this ministry work. Childcare will be provided.
We started our new sermon series, Webs Not Walls, based on the book Woven by Meredith Miller. It's a great read and has a lot to offer as we consider how we nurture faith in other people. We gave away nearly 100 books last Sunday, but we still have a few left. If you'd like to read (or listen) and sign up for one of the discussion groups, you can sign up here.
Way back in January, we had a short town hall. We laid our visions and goals for 2026 and answered some of your questions. The idea behind it was to show transparency from our leadership, but also to make sure we are all on the same page. Well, we're going to do it again after worship on Sunday, September 13. Stay for a short presentation from our leadership and ask any questions you may have. Mark your calendars!
