Greetings from The Downtown Church! This is a bi-weekly email with information about events, updates, and other fun things from the leadership of the church.

Change is afoot at The Downtown Church! In what is probably one of the worst kept secrets around, Carla Pate is handing over the reins of our Children's Ministry to Nicole Brookman. We have been so blessed to have Carla and her favorite assistant, JD, care for and guide our kids over the last five years. She has taken our children's ministry to new heights, introducing fun and formative curriculum, planning great family events, and being a warm presence with our kids every Sunday. Now she's ready for the next person to take this ministry even further.

We are so pleased to have found Nicole Brookman! At the St. Patrick's Day Parade, Nicole and I bumped into each other—an encounter that can only be described as divine providence—and we talked about The Downtown Church and the children's ministry. I knew that Carla had her eyes and ears open for the next leader, so when I started talking with Nicole (who was both of my kids' preschool teacher), the discussion felt natural; spirit-led.

She showed up the next Sunday with her husband Jeremy, and they've been here ever since!

We will talk about this change much more in the coming months as we transition leaders, but please join me in thanking Carla and JD, and welcoming Nicole and Jeremy.

See you on Sunday,
Brian

If you missed the first Sundays of signups, be sure to stop by the main hallway at church to find a Summer Hang for your family's schedule. There are pool parties, e-bike rides, bonfires, garden parties...something for everyone! All you have to do is put your name on the line and plan on having a good time with other folks from The Downtown Church!
It's almost time for our annual All-Church Picnic! In what can only be described as one of the most fun days of the year, the picnic is a chance to chat, chew, and throw water balloons. We just need to know how many people to prepare for. Fill out this quick form to RSVP for the fun. We'll make the hot dogs and hamburgers, we'll ask you to bring the drinks, sides, and desserts. More info to come, but RSVP now!
We're still collecting food for our friends at Antioch UMC. Grab some shelf stable items when you are doing your grocery shopping and drop them off at church in the gathering area on Sundays or bring them up to church during the week. Thank you so much for supporting and helping our neighbors in need through our brothers and sisters at Antioch.
