Greetings from The Downtown Church! This is a bi-weekly email with information about events, updates, and other fun things from the leadership of the church.

I’ve been thinking today about the word providence. It’s defined as the protective care of God and timely preparation for future events. To me, it’s always been about God going before me, God already at work in my life in amazing ways that it seems I almost stumble upon and find myself the recipient of grace. It’s happening for me greatly this month.

Last week I was blessed with time away on a vacation with a dear friend. I literally did nothing except talk, listen to the sounds of the ocean, breathe in and breathe out the wonder of God. I came home renewed and grateful for a real Sabbath. The next three weeks are pretty complicated for me and will require me to miss a few Sundays for family health concerns and United Methodist responsibilities. The trip was providence for me.

We have an incredible church made up of amazing humans. Last week, Hailey Magnus, our church Lay Leader, brought the message beautifully. The next three weeks, other lay members of our church will be sharing: Brent Bossi, Seth Lancaster, and Heather Blair. Each of these incredible people is an example that The Downtown Church is working as the body of Christ. Each part is important to the whole. It is in our uniqueness and unity that we can best make a difference in this world. And Providence is made evident.

Please remember I continue to be available by email.

See you Sunday, online or in-person,
Lori

It's pool party time! Our youth are getting together on Sunday, June 27, from 5-7pm at Pastor Lori's house. This is the first chance to meet our new youth coordinator, Cody Williams, and also just a time to get together and have some fun. Marco....Polo!
Woohoo! We have some exciting news and an answered prayer to share! We've made two awesome hires at The Downtown Church. Carla Pate will be our new children's coordinator, handling kids birth to 5th grade. She has previous ministry experience and is currently a 5th grade teacher in Ozark.

Cody Williams will be working with the youth, 6th-12th grade. He also has previous youth experience and currently works in accounting at Expedia. Both will begin in a part-time capacity in June, and will be looking for some great volunteers to help out along the journey...
As we begin thinking about a return to normal, we'll need some volunteers to help with coffee and refreshments on Sunday mornings. These teams would serve once a month and help get coffee, donuts, bagels, and chat with people on Sundays. Who doesn't want to do that kind of volunteer work? Let us know if you're interested or signup this Sunday in the bulletin.
