Greetings from The Downtown Church! This is a bi-weekly email with information about events, updates, and other fun things from the leadership of the church.

I am writing this from Florida where we are spending spring break with the family. Ben’s parents moved here in 1979 and it has always been a great place to visit family and the beach. This year we went to Cape Canaveral on Monday to enjoy the Space Center again. It never ceases to amaze me that astronauts were willing to strap themselves into a tiny space capsule on the nose of an enormous Saturn V rocket and land on the moon. The space shuttle program that created a way to go from outer space and back was amazing and somehow we began to take it for granted until something went wrong. The building of a space station required an enormous amount of human talent and cooperation from multiple countries and is still circling above us each day.

The amount of human cooperation that was necessary for all of that to happen successfully is extraordinary. Yet, it is still happening with NASA, Blue Origin, and SpaceX in our country. What would happen if we put the same amount of effort and energy into solving climate change, into repairing broken relationships around the world, and into feeding the millions of people who will be without food today, or without healthcare?

And I wonder...don’t we have the responsibility to be part of the solutions instead of the problems? Of course we do! As followers of Jesus Christ, it is our gift and our responsibility to mend and heal as He did. What can each of us contribute to the cause of restoration? I wonder.

See you Sunday,
Lori

Holy Week is only 10 days away. We will kick-off the week on Sunday, March 24, with Palm Sunday and a children's Palm Parade. On Wednesday, we will observe the Last Supper in the Upper Room at our Vespers service (see below). On Friday, there will be a Good Friday worship experience. Then on Easter morning, we'll have an all-church breakfast (see below), an Easter Egg Hunt for kids in the building, and Easter worship at 10:30am. We can't wait to celebrate with you!
If you haven't stopped by our Vespers experience yet, there are only two left. The soup and bread will be ready at 5:30pm and Vespers will start around 6:15pm. Make plans to join us for this midweek gathering as we journey towards Easter and remember the Last Supper.

Easter breakfast is just a few weeks away! It's always so much fun to see all your smiling faces before Easter worship. We have over 100 RSVPs already, but if you haven't let us know you'll be there, just signup on the bulletin or fill out this quick online form.
