Greetings from The Downtown Church! This is a bi-weekly email with information about events, updates, and other fun things from the leadership of the church.

I'm in New Orleans right now enjoying some wonderful family time. We've walked the city, seen some alligators, and eaten our weight in beignets! It's always a great time getting to see my sister and experience a different culture, while doing plenty of relaxing. But I've been reminded of the wonderful Downtown Church community while away.

This is a majority Catholic community and I keep seeing signs for Lenten meals and gatherings for the many parishes that are observing these 40 days while we wait for Easter. And I'm reminded that Christianity is ONE body made up of different parts with different traditions in different locations. I'm thankful that not all churches look, sound, and act alike, but at our core, each one of us profess to seek God's will as we go about our lives.

I'm thankful for the community that we've built in Springfield and the ways we are endeavoring to love God and our neighbors as we seek to fulfill Jesus's great commandment. And we are just one part of a global body seeking to do the same. May we see our similarities much more than our differences in the days, weeks, and years to come.

See you Soon,
Brian

We are VERY excited about all the new faces we've been seeing in worship! We ran the numbers and figured out there are about 50 more people here on Sundays than there were a year ago. More people means less space, and we barely squeezed into the sanctuary on Christmas Eve! So to help make room for everyone, we will have TWO services on Easter Sunday. One at 8am and one at 10:30am. We will still have a breakfast at 9am, followed by an Easter Egg Hunt, but now you have two options for Easter worship!
There are just a few more Wednesdays left to join us for our soup & bread supper followed by Vespers in the sanctuary. Each week, we say some prayers, sing songs, and dive into the sermon with some discussion. Everyone is invited to join us for the meal and the conversation as we talk about how prayer draws us closer to God and each other. Soup is ready at 5:30pm and Vespers will begin around 6:15pm.
For the past several years, we've taken a special Easter offering to support our ongoing work at McGregor Elementary. We support the school through our Good Dads, Strong Schools chapter, McGregor Moms, and the many ways we support the students and staff with special needs throughout the year. We invite you to plan ahead to give as you are able to our continuing support of the McGregor Community.
